Coming November 24: Is Technology Driving Progress or Chaos?
Hold the Line Maryland has been talking about how to inoculate against the disinformation that has been increasingly promulgated before and during the Trump era. One of our long-term goals is to counter disinformation, especially the kinds of disinformation that results in injury to people and democracy.
If you want to learn about some of the challenges to humanity that technology has introduced, as well as some of the solutions to these challenges, which humane technology affords us, tune in on Tuesday, November 24, at 7:00 pm EST, to Unfinished Live for Episode Three of a four-part series, “Is Technology Driving Progress or Chaos?”
With partner Aspen Ideas, Unfinished will explore this question through “live segments, dynamic films, and provoking performances to showcase lived experience, creative expression, and real-world candor. Through conversations, exchanges and roundtable discussions, experts join everyday voices on a nuanced exploration of possibility and discovery.”
Next Tuesday’s conversation will focus on questions such as:
What makes technology racist?
Can we own our data?
How do we disrupt facial recognition surveillance?
Featured speakers include Tristan Harris, co-founder of the Center for Human Technology; Andrew Yang, founder of Humanity Forward; Manoush Zomorodi, host of the TED Radio Hour; Nadya Tolokonnikova, political activist and founding member of Pussy Riot, and many others.
